What are Configurable Folders?

During the initial Revit installation, the Configurable Folders panel allows you to alter the installation location of Revit content. There are three selections possible for each type of content.

Default Content is installed in default locations on the workstation. The content is removed if you uninstall the Revit application.
Local Content is installed in a custom location on the workstation. The content is removed if you uninstall the Revit application.
Shared Content is installed in the server. The content is not removed if you uninstall the Revit application, because it is being shared between multiple users.
Note
  • Custom content files are not removed when you uninstall the Revit application.
  • On Windows XP, content is installed in C:\ProgramData.
